Julianna Short, LMHC

Licensed mental health counselor in Florida

“My favorite populations to work with are teens and their families. In my time working with them, I have encountered many athletes and high-performers with self esteem, body image issues, and eating concerns that they judge themselves for so critically. I love being that safe space for them to explore their feelings and why they are happening.”

Hello, I’m Julianna!

I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of Florida and I work with individuals, families, & teens. I describe my therapeutic style as creative, humorous, and explorative.

To teens and parents:

If you’re a teenager carrying anxiety, mood struggles, body image concerns, trauma, or the pressure to keep performing, I want you to know you’re not alone in it—and you don’t have to figure it out by yourself. I love working with teens. I also work with families that include teens and parents so we can improve communication, reduce conflict, and help everyone feel more connected. I do not treat couples. My focus is on you and the parent–teen relationship.

To athletes and high performers:
If you’re an athlete or someone who is used to pushing hard and achieving at a high level, you already know how much pressure can live in your body and mind. When perfectionism, performance anxiety, burnout, body image issues, or disordered eating start to take over, I can help. I work specifically with athletes and over-achievers who want to stay competitive while also protecting their mental health and sense of self.

To those struggling with body image, eating, or self-esteem:
If you’re exhausted by the constant noise about your body, food, or how you measure up, I specialize in exactly that. I help people rebuild a more compassionate relationship with their body and themselves. We look at the deeper patterns—using relational work and parts work—so the change feels real and lasting, not just another set of rules to follow.

To those carrying trauma, anxiety, or depression:
If anxiety, low mood, or the weight of past experiences is making daily life harder, I provide trauma-focused support that respects your pace and your nervous system. I draw on Brainspotting, Internal Family Systems-Informed Parts Work, trauma-informed CBT, and DBT-informed skills. My style is relational, attachment-focused, creative, and often humorous. We explore together so you can feel safer in your body and more grounded in your relationships.

My Background & Approach

To anyone wondering if we’d be a good fit:

If you’re a woman or a family—teen or adult—looking for a therapist who is warm, curious, and willing to go beneath the surface, I may be a strong match. I work with individuals and with families made up of teens and parents. I do not offer couples therapy. My approach is attachment-focused, person-in-environment, explorative, and grounded in specialized training, such as Brain Spotting, Structural and System Family Therapy, as well as Trauma-Informed Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, so the work is both deep and practical.
